A funny quote!

I like reading westerns as long as they are clean and don't have a lot of junk in them. My very favorite western writter is Max Brand. Heres the quote that I just had to post from his book "Slumber Mountian"

"I'm old enough to shave, and young enough to eat goat meat. What more do you want in a husband?"

I'll have to make sure to tell this line to my wife to score some extra points! Heck this line is so good maybe my son could use it to get his future wife LOL!

The One Thing -The gospel of John- John 1:1-17

About The One Thing, there are books, commentary’s, study’s and on and on out there on the Bible. I’m not nocking any of them since I myself have quite a few. But I feel that sometimes we can get an over abundance of information. I have a hard time remembering 10 or 20 different things but I can remember 1. So I’m starting this to help me to apply these precious truths in my life and I’d encourage you to do the same.

Read John 1:1-17 In this passage of scripture what’s the one thing that God would have you know and how can we apply it to our life? Your one thing is probbably going to be different than mine cause God is a God of variety and he made us all unique and that’s totally cool. I’ll share mine and if you want you can share yours that way we can get different perspectives and thus grow.

The one thing that I see in this passage is Jesus is the Light and He wants us to be filled with this light which is Him.

I can apply this to my life by asking Jesus to fill me over and over till I overflow then others will see this and will want a real relationship with Jesus. Fill me till I overflow today Lord Jesus amen

If the Bible just said one word

I'm a Children's Pastor and I've asked this question to the kids I've spoken to throughout the years and the question is this "If the Bible only said one word from Genesis to Revelation what would it be? The answer is JESUS   Over and over and over again we see Jesus if we look for Him. Take a look at this! Cool isn't it He's everything to the Bible is He everything to you? He's only a prayer away!

Salvation

Praise God I had an opportunity to lead a young man to the Lord tonight! My wife's friend asked if I had some time to talk to her cousin about mormonism she said he was confused. I said sure and then during the course of our conversation he said he wanted to do good but kept doing bad I showed him Romans 7 and he said "it's like your reading my mind" I read though the first part of 8 where it says "1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death" and then I asked if he wanted to ask Jesus in his heart he said yes!!!!!!!! The cool thing about it all was I called my friend to hang out with me and he was sharing his testimony with him so it was a tag team! Praise Jesus Amen! Friend you never know when God will bring a person to you to minister to. Stay ready keep living the life and He'll do the rest!

True Obedience

Mark 1:40-45 40 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. 41 Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” 42 Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed. 43 Then Jesus sent him on his way with a stern warning: 44 “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.” 45 But the man went and spread the word, proclaiming to everyone what had happened. As a result, large crowds soon surrounded Jesus, and he couldn’t publicly enter a town anywhere. He had to stay out in the secluded places, but people from everywhere kept coming to him.

In this story we see a man who had leprosy get healed which is awesome. But this man was disobedient to what Jesus said. Let's look at what Jesus said vs 44 44 “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.” Ok he was not spost to tell anyone, and go directly to the priest with an offering to show that he had been healed. Instead he went out and told everyone cause he was so excited. You might be saying so what's the big deal he just couldn't help telling everyone, and if that were me I'd do the same thing. That's pretty much what I used to think when I read this story until the other day when God opened up my eyes. This man made it harder for Jesus to do what He needed to do. Jesus still is in the miracle working business wheather it's a physical healing, or something else that helps us in our time of need. We need to make sure to keep our eye on Jesus and do what He says at all times instead of being like the man in the story who took His eye off Jesus after He got what he wanted. Obedience is the key to God's heart

What’s in your hand?

What’s in your hand?

Introduction- Have you guys seen the movie Braveheart? In the movie William Wallace is fighting for the freedom of Scotland and he rally’s a bunch of people to fight with him. One of the best scenes in the movie is where he talks to Robert the Bruce who is the rightful King of Scotland but hasn’t taken the Throne anyways he talks him aside and tells him “you’re the rightful leader and there is strength in you I see it” This morning I’m here to declare to you that you are called to be a King and there is strength in you God see’s it! I’m gonna share with you 3 ordinary men who used what was in their hands to do amazing things for God.

1. Moses
Exodus 4:1-5
1 But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The LORD never appeared to you’?” 2 Then the LORD asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied. 3 “Throw it down on the ground,” the LORD told him. So Moses threw down the staff, and it turned into a snake! Moses jumped back. 4 Then the LORD told him, “Reach out and grab its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a shepherd’s staff in his hand. 5“Perform this sign,” the LORD told him. “Then they will believe that the LORD, the God of their ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—really has appeared to you.”
He went on to lead the Israel to the Promised Land

2. Caleb
Had faith to believe God could help them take out giants even when he was old
Joshua 14:10-14
10 “Now, as you can see, the LORD has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise—even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. 11 I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. 12 So give me the hill country that the LORD promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said.” 13 So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land. 14 Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite because he wholeheartedly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.

3. Joshua
He also believed that God could help them take out giants even though no one else did.
Joshua 17:14-18
14 The descendants of Joseph came to Joshua and asked, “Why have you given us only one portion of land as our homeland when the LORD has blessed us with so many people?” 15 Joshua replied, “If there are so many of you, and if the hill country of Ephraim is not large enough for you, clear out land for yourselves in the forest where the Perizzites and Rephaites live.” 16 The descendants of Joseph responded, “It’s true that the hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shan and its surrounding settlements and those in the valley of Jezreel. They are too strong for us.” 17 Then Joshua said to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, the descendants of Joseph, “Since you are so large and strong, you will be given more than one portion. 18 The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.”

Conclusion- Matthew 25:14-30

14 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. 15 He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip. 16 “The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more. 17 The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more. 18 But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master’s money. 19 “After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money. 20 The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.’ 21 “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ 22 “The servant who had received the two bags of silver came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two bags of silver to invest, and I have earned two more.’ 23 “The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ 24 “Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate. 25 I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’ 26 “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, 27 why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ 28 “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver. 29 To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. 30 Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Moses, Joshua, and Caleb let God use them just as they were they used what was in their hands their talent to do great things for God. What about you aare you letting God use you just as you are there truly is greatness in you! I challenge you to be like the wise servant and use your gifts, talents, and abilitys for Jesus!
